This is a socially engaged art project with ArtEZ bachelors and master students in Arnhem, the Netherlands, held between Dec 2019 and Jan 2020 supported by Arnhem municipality.
The theme was "Critical Remembrance" in a relation to World War Ⅱ.
It aimed to elicit the story of the context and bring a positive shift in the context by engaging locals.
I facilitate 4 master students to implement socially engaged art. Each master student formed a team with 8 bachelor students from Dance, Fine Arts and Education, and Theatre and Education departments. Every team was located in different area of Arnhem to work with the local people and its context.
Why and how do we create collective memories that represent a narrative of history that may actually perpetuate difference and lead to further conflicts through time?
To be continued as a shadowlands...
